The Model Prayer

Dear Reader,

In our family devotions, my dad has been going through The Model Prayer (found in Matthew 6:9-13). In verse 9 Jesus states, “After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father which art in Heaven Hallowed be thy name”. (KJV) The word Hallowed means to sanctify, so in another words, we’re saying sanctified be your name.

Verse 10 says “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in Earth as it is in Heaven.” (KJV) In heaven the angels do God’s will, so on Earth we should be fulfilling God’s will for our lives. Verse 11 reads “Give us this day our daily bread” (KJV) God gives us our daily bread every day. For example, when the 3 Hebrew boys were in the furnace that is when God saved them. Not the day before, God gave them their daily bread for that day. Verse 12 says, “And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors”. (KJV)

If you want God to forgive your sins you have to forgive people who sinned against you. Verse 13 states “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever Amen. Amen means so be it. It’s the final word.
